Avon Needs Trees are a charity creating new woodland around Bristol-Avon to tackle climate and nature emergencies.

They offer a range of volunteering opportunities which can look like:

  • Weekly tree planting sessions
  • Tree care and conservation – including monitoring and supporting tree growth, habitat creation, species surveys and recording, and other tasks supporting site management and access.
  • Event volunteers – attending community and business events and giving talks to audiences.
  • Volunteer leaders – supervising weekly volunteers.

Volunteering is open to everyone, with no experience required for many roles.

They also run a Woodland Skills training programme, which is designed to support adults who would like to work with trees and woodlands to gain relevant skills and experience. This is a 6 month programme for those over the age of 18 who are not yet in a paid job within the green sector. Check their website to explore dates for this course.

  • Cost: Free
  • Ages: 18+
