Volunteer with Bristol Avon Rivers Trust (BART)

BART offers volunteering opportunities to help improve the health of local rivers. There are many ways to get involved, such as restoring rivers and testing water quality.

  • BART Beacons – A network of people who report issues they see while walking near rivers, streams, or brooks.
  • Water Guardians – Get basic online training to check local rivers for pollution and report findings each month.
  • River Detectives – Help with a Citizen Science project by testing river water each month to check nutrient levels. Training is provided.
  • Riverfly Monitors – Take samples from rivers or streams to study insects like riverflies. Training courses run every summer.
