Bristol Regional Environmental Records Centre (BRERC) offer a range of volunteering opportunities that will help you to build valuable skills whilst helping to build a picture of wildlife in the region.

Volunteer Roles in Data and Admin

Help to track and manage wildlife records by volunteering in one of these roles:

  • Data Logging & Assessment – Record emails, reports, and documents about wildlife. Thank contributors and identify key species and habitats for our system.
  • Data Entry – Enter wildlife records into our database. Full training provided.
  • Electronic Data Processing – Check and process large amounts of data from spreadsheets before adding it to our system. Some spreadsheet/database experience is useful.
  • Data Transfer – Move data carefully into our main database. Perfect for detail-focused volunteers who enjoy working with computers.
  • GIS Mapping – Use special software to map habitats, species, and sites. Helps provide information to experts and the public. GIS experience is a plus.
  • ‘R’ Statistics Package – Use a computer program to analyse data. No experience needed, but programming skills are useful.
  • Admin Tasks – Help with filing, updating records, and organizing images. Useful skills: working with databases and spreadsheets.
